Intellihance is designed to work with any Macintosh 68030-25 MHz or faster, 68040, or PowerPC processor. Mac™ OS version 7.1 or later is required.
Intellihance is compatible with Adobe Photoshop 2.5.1 or later and is compatible with other applications that support Photoshop plug-ins. Intellihance is not compatible with Adobe PageMaker 6.0 on 680x0-based Macintoshes or with MacroMedia xRes 2.0.

Changes to Intellihance 2.0.2

Installing Intellihance
Insert the Intellihance disk, then run the installer by double-clicking on the installer icon. You will have a choice of a full or partial installation of Intellihance and related files. You may install Intellihance to any application that accepts Adobe Photoshop plug-ins.
The following folders and files are installed into the Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins folder.

On your hard drive you will find the Intellihance folder which contains trial images, batch processing macros for QuicKeys and PhotoMatic, and a color separation table from ColorAccess™.
Registering Intellihance
Launch Adobe Photoshop (or compatible application). The first time you choose any Intellihance filter, you will be requested to serialize and register the software. Please enter the serial number located on the Intellihance disk label.
Please register using one of the built-in electronic registration methods. If you do not have a modem, fax/modem, or printer, you may fill out the registration card in the back of the manual.
Intellihance and Photomatic 2.0
PhotoMatic 2.0 from Daystar is an Apple Script-based batch processing system. Included in the Intellihance folder is a PhotoMatic template that you can use, or you can create your own script. You can get the latest version of PhotoMatic for no charge from the Daystar web site: http://www.daystar.com.
Intellihance and Adobe Photoshop 2.5.1
If you are going to use Intellihance with Photoshop 2.5.1, it is recommended that you increase the RAM allocation of Photoshop to 1.4 times the size of the images you wish to process.
Intellihance and Pagemaker 6.0
When using Intellihance with Pagemaker 6.0 you will notice that each Intellihance filter appears twice in the Effects popup Menu. If you are running on a Power PC, select the the plug-in without the 68k designator.
Intellihance and Pagemaker 6.0 on 68k Macs
Running Intellihance in PageMaker 6.0 on 68k Macs will cause PageMaker to crash. We are working with Adobe on this problem and hope to restore compatibility in a future version. In the meantime, Intellihance will only work properly in PageMaker 6.0 when running on a Power Macintosh.
IntelliBatch Errata
When saving a new IntelliBatch icon the instructions on page 22 of the manual are incomplete:
>To Save the new Macro as an icon file:
1. Bring up the QuicKeys Main dialog from the Apple menu.
2. Select the macro you wnat to save.
3. Copy the macro to the clipboard by pressing Command + C.
4. Select Universal from the Sets menu. You are now looking at the Universal keyset.
5. Paste the macro to the Universal keyset by pressing Command + V.
6. Select Make Icon from the File Menu
The Save As... dialog appears.
7. Rename the macro if you wish with a leading space in its name.
8. Check the "Save shortcut data in QK Icon" checkbox and click the save button.
Your new macro icon is ready to use.
PixelCraft’s Color Access Separation Table
Intellihance includes a color separation table from PixelCraft’s ColorAccess product. This table is loaded into Photoshop and replaces its color separation and CMYK reverse separation functions. The ColorAccess software system is a color separation system based on ink density found in high-end scanners and not CIE colorimetery. This provides the quality of those high-end system without all the spectrophotometer calibrations.
The separation table provided with Intellihance has the following specifications:
Ink Type: Standard commercial ink sheet-fed press (the ColorAccess system can also generate separations for Heat-set Web presses and other printer types). The limits for this setup is as follows:

Paper Type: Coated (add some midtone brightness to compensate for ink absorption if your planning to use this table on uncoated papers).
Total Ink Limit: 320% Total Ink, UCR applied to limit ink
Black Generation: Industry standard 4-color black or Skeleton Black. Black begins to ramp at 40% and typically reaches a maximum of 80%. This is weak black when compared to the heavy black usually created by GCR. A heavy black will increase the likelihood of moire in Postscript halftoning. If the total ink limits is exceeded, then UCR is applied to bring it under the limit.
